Organisation for the protection of Aboriginal culture and heritage, and to promote awareness in the community of the culture and heritage of Aboriginal persons in the Council's area.
Birrigan Gargle Local Aboriginal Land Council was first named by local Aboriginal man, Desmond Ferguson Snr, and when translated to English, means Beautiful (Birrigan) Ocean (Gargle).
The Birrigan Gargle lands extend from Evans Head in the north close to Red Rock in the south.
