CVWI operates from a broad feminist philosophy of inclusiveness and empowerment of women; on social justice principles and with a commitment to recognising cultural diversity.
It acts to improve the economic, physical, cultural and general lives and well-being of Clarence Valley women. Its aim is to develop and promote the roles, opportunities, choices and sustainable outcomes of women in the Clarence Valley.
CVWI was incorporated in June 2003 as a non profit community based organisation. The Board of Management meets as required, generally bi-monthly. A General Membership meeting is held on a quarterly basis. The venues for General Meetings are rotated between Grafton and the Lower Clarence. Membership is $10 per financial year, payable each year before 31 October.
Projects that CVWI has sponsored over the years: - International Women's Day events - Women's Oral Histories - TAFE Awards for women - Women's Film Festival - Local Government elections promotion to women - Clarence Roller Derby League sponsor - See Park plaques commemorating local women elected to public office
