KAPOW stands for Kids And the Power of Work. It is an education program that is designed for young people who are not attending school and is geared towards getting you ready for work and is run through Key Employment.

KAPOW courses run for 28 weeks and they offer you the opportunity to complete an accredited course that is equivalent to the School Certificate. As a student in KAPOW you will study a Certificate II in Business qualification, a personal development program and complete a work experience placement. You will be required to attend Training at Key for two days a week to complete the classroom-based component of the program. For a further two days each week you will be assisted to gain a work placement in an area that interests you.

The classes at KAPOW usually have between 8 and 12 students in them. The small class size will help you work together with your class and trainer to complete your work in a supportive environment. When you sign up for KAPOW you also register with Key Employment. You will be assigned a consultant who will work with you on your individual needs. They will also help you with many things including any personal or social problems you might be having. They will support you to complete your course work if you need extra assistance.

Consultants will meet with you fortnightly and sometimes more if you need to. KAPOW provides extra support for students with literacy and numeracy issues, we don't leave anyone behind and the KAPOW team is right beside you every step of the way. All we ask it that you turn up and have a go! KAPOW is a free course for students who meet eligibility criteria for Key Employment.
