Wesley youth mentoring is a one on one, community-based mentoring program.
Our youth mentors support and develop positive relationships with young people aged 12-21 years, providing community based mentoring, guidance and a listening ear. Unlike many other youth mentoring programs, we’re not connected with a school, or the criminal justice system and we welcome applications from volunteers of all ages, genders and walks of life.
This is an incredibly rewarding opportunity to spend time out in the community one-on-one with a young person, help guide them on their next steps and broaden their horizons. We have just started our mentoring service in the Grafton area and urgently seek the support of local individuals who can help make a difference in the life of local children in Out of home care.
As a child-focused organisation, the needs and safety of children and young people underpin the entire mentoring program. Mentors need to be willing to undergo full child protection screening checks, assessment for suitability and training. It is essential that volunteer mentors are willing to make this commitment for a minimum of 12 months. Many of the young people referred to the program have had lots of disappointment and rejection in their life and need to know they are accepted.
